To evaluate whether a recombinant protein is correctly expressed, it is necessary to check not only whether the amino acids form the peptide chain as expected, but also the peptide chain folding and post-translational modification. Baculovirus expression system has excellent ability of protein folding and post-translational modification. The protein folding processed by the system is always consistent with wild-type proteins perfectly. However, baculovirus expression systems are not always perfect for post-translational modifications, such as some glycosylation modifications.

The traditional protein sequence analysis technology typically relies on the protein database.
